WELCOME ADDRESS

Dear Colleagues,

I take great pleasure in inviting you to the 42nd APACPH Conference, which will be held at the Bali International Conference Centre (BICC), Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia in November 2010. APACPH is a consortium of over 60 public health institutions in 21 countries across the Asia-Pacific region. The vision of the Consortium is to achieve the highest possible level of health in all people of the nations of the Asia-Pacific region. APACPH aims to enhance regional capacity to improve the quality of life and to address major public health challenges through the delivery of education, research and population health services by member institutions. APACPH supports activities that forward its five main objectives: (i) To enhance the quality and relevance of educational and training programs in public health;  (ii) To expand knowledge, improve skills and demonstrate effective interventions; (iii) To raise awareness of current, emerging, and re-emerging public health issues, and develop programs of action for their resolution; (iv) To enhance the capacity and sustainability of public health systems; (v) To assist in policy and leadership development for health.
It is an honour for Universitas Indonesia (UI) to host this prestigious international conference. The conference programme is detailed and comprehensive, covering a range of topics in public health area that would be both interesting and beneficial for the participants. Moreover, the many presentations at this conference will address common issues and problems faced by professionals in public health. We hope that this conference will serve as a platform for all of us to learn and share. This is particularly important as it is by working in partnership and collaboration with other individuals, institutions and sectors that we are able to address major public health challenges. We hope that during the conference, it will help create an environment of mutually rewarding scientific research and collaboration that will augur well for advances in public health. We also invite you to enjoy Bali, a truly beautiful tropical island paradise, where the passage of life is measured through elaborate rituals performed by artistic and hospitable local people. I look forward to your participation at the 42nd APACPH International Conference.

Sincerely,
